Two Stars Are Born!

Last night, the boys shined in the 5th grade holiday production of Santa's Holiday Playlist. Check out my video!

James is Champion!

At the November 17, 2011, James was recognized for being his Cub Scout Pack's top popcorn seller (thanks family and friends).



That same night, he took first place in the holiday division of the Pack's annual cake decorating contest with his stuffed turkey cake.

Annual Grandparents Luncheon

The boys were blessed to attend their school's Grandparents Luncheon with their grandmother and great-grandmother. This is their last one (sniff) (sniff). It's hard to believe they are fifth graders!

So Hard to Believe Another School Year Is Coming to a Close.

Today, the kids celebrated with a year-end party and awards program. James got awards for "A" Honor Roll, Good Citizenship, Six Flags Reading, and Mad Science Club. Jared received Good Citzenship and Six Flags Reading awards. Each student spoke of one thing of which they were most proud. Most kids, including James, touted academic achievements. But I almost lost it when one of the students said the accomplishment for which she was most proud was making friends with Jared. I did lose it when Jared said (with the help of his very patient communications teacher) he was most proud of making friends. Check out my short video.

Wax Museum

Thursday, the boys participated in the annual Wax Museum at school. The third graders had been preparing for about a month. They each chose a famous figure, researched and wrote a biography, and created a bust of their subjects. On Thursday, each student dressed as his/her subject, decorated their desk, and, when parents/visitors pushed the "button" on their desktop, gave a prepared speech as the subject. It was very nice. James was President Obama, and Jared was Muhammed Ali. Of course, there's a video!! Just Click:
Wax Museum

SNOW DAY!

I started watching the news at 5:00 this morning, looking for the school closures. I waited as long as I could before getting the boys up (6:20). When Jared's bus didn't come at 7:00, I started to worry. A few minutes later, I turned on the TV to learn that the schools are, in fact, closed today (I guess other families get going a little later than we do because we were the only ones out waiting for the buses).

Anyway, James was thrilled; Jared still wanted to ride the bus. James informed me that he didn't get "all dressed up for nothing," and proceeded outside to make a snowman and snow angels. He had no luck engaging Jared in a snowball fight though. Jared did venture out long enough to find the newspaper, and then retreated inside to "read." Both are lost in cartoons and video games now.

Harlem Globetrotters

I took the boys to see the Globetrotters Saturday. Naureen was a great sport and came along to help out (Thanks Naureen). I knew my aspiring basketball star (James) would love the show, and he did. We all had a really good time. Here's another one of my long home movies (click below). I'm ba-a-a-ck. LOL!
